Anti-Inflammatory Watermelon Slushee
Talk about health and healing in a glass! This slushee contains all natural ingredients such as watermelon, aloe vera, coconut water and ground flax seeds. Watermelon is extremely high in lycopenes, which contain antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals, helping to reduce stress on the body and risk of chronic illness. A double dose of antioxidant properties is achieved by including aloe vera. Aloe also soothes and coats the delicate mucosal lining, promoting healing and aids against acid reflux. Coconut water (free of additives-I buy Zico brand) provides hydrating electrolytes. Tossing in flax seeds is optional, but is a personal favorite of mine. It abates constipation and also is high on the anti-inflammatory scale. Bottoms up on this delicious healthful drink!
3/4-1cup frozen watermelon cubes
1/2 cup frozen aloe vera pieces (Pitaya Foods)
1/2-3/4 cup coconut water
1 Tbs ground flax seeds
Blend all ingredients in high powdered blender until well combined, slowly adding coconut water to achieve slushee consistency.
